Six typical tasks, one process: from rust to paint and graffiti through to moulds and wood, the laser power is set to match the material and the contamination in each case.
What connects all six applications: the laser works selectively. Laser power and process parameters are matched to the material, the coating and the result you want — with rust to the degree of corrosion, with wood to the type of wood, the surface and its condition. The process runs dry, without conventional blasting media and without chemical cleaning agents, and can be aimed precisely at the area to be processed. How the result turns out depends, among other things, on the material, the contamination, the surface and the laser power used. That is why every application is best started with a test on the real component.

Metal: rust, paint, oxidation and moulds
On metal, rust, paint, oxide layers and scale can be processed selectively, preparing the surfaces for further working steps — for weld seam preparation, for restoration or for tool and mould maintenance. In the automotive sector this involves body, frame and chassis parts; in classic car restoration, add-on parts as well, and there the parameters are matched to sheet thickness, coating and the desired result. With moulds, dies and tools, what counts is that cavities and contours that are hard to reach are covered too — without blasting media.
Construction and façades: graffiti on stone, concrete and clinker brick
With graffiti and soiling on façades, the materials involved are stone, concrete and clinker brick. Here, too, the laser works without conventional blasting media and without chemical cleaning agents. In heritage conservation, the dosage matters as well: when gently cleaning natural stone, clinker brick and metal, the energy can be finely metered — with suitable parameter settings, the effect on the surface underneath is minimised.
Wood: charring, old paintwork and soiling
Wood calls for settings of its own. Charring, old paintwork and soiling on wooden surfaces can be processed, with the parameter settings matched to the type of wood, the surface and its condition. Because the result and the parameters depend on the specific piece, a test on a sample part is the sensible first step.
Which laser power
suits which task.
Material, contamination, area and frequency of use determine which laser cleaning machine and which laser power make sense for your application. The range runs from 200 to 6,000 W.
Fine work and mobile use
For sensitive components, detail cleaning and mobile work, the BL Portable Pulse is available with 200 and 300 W. According to the product catalogue, its cleaning head works with a two-axis scanning movement; the scan field is stated as up to 245 × 245 mm and the cleaning speed as up to 30,000 mm/s. The machine is air-cooled and, according to the catalogue, can be run on a battery, that is without a mains cable — and therefore outdoors as well.
Large areas and continuous operation
For large areas, production and continuous use, the BL Compact Pulse or the BL CW series are the options. The catalogue lists the CW laser (continuous wave) with 1,500, 2,000, 3,000 and 6,000 W; as applications it names rapid rust removal on extensive metal surfaces and heavy industrial use. The materials listed are aluminium, alloys, copper, iron, steel and stainless steel; rust and paint are removed.
Welding and cleaning in one machine
The BL Welding Machine covers four functions: welding, cutting, weld seam cleaning and rust removal. The catalogue names steel, stainless steel, galvanised sheet and aluminium as materials, and the power classes range from 1,500 to 6,000 W.

Whatever the application: depending on the version, Beamlux laser systems can produce laser radiation of laser class 4. Before commissioning, an application-specific risk assessment must be carried out and a suitable laser controlled area defined. Laser safety goggles must match the specific wavelength and the expected power.
